Oracle has announced the new JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Release 24, an update that conveys enhancements to make your curious mind happy.
These enhancements cover both the technical and application areas, introducing innovation that automates, optimizes, and transforms business processes. Now, let’s dive into these exciting application enhancements.
Procurement and Logistics
For every procurement team working with JD Edwards, brace yourselves because automation is coming your way.
How? Through a set of combined E1 pages and watchlists. These watchlists create a dashboard that illustrates the complete process flow model, from requisition to receipt and dispatch.
The feature allows you to consider a full set of data, providing deeper insight into how the business process is running. It also includes links to additional detailed process flows, charts, and graphs, broadening the focus from single transactions to a comprehensive view of the entire process. By leveraging available information, it reveals blind spots and inefficiencies in the process.

Another interesting enhancement introduced is the possibility to check procurement prices in a standalone program even before creating the purchase order. This will allow you to make effective decisions when generating orders.
Increasing efficiency for the purchasing flow, Release 24 includes improvements such as volume-based buying recommendations, and preventing the reopening of the requisition order when the purchase order line is closed with option 9—a feature we are all excited to have.
A good development on the logistics of the sales order side, introduced in the latest JD Edwards release, is the calculation of order preparation date and delivery date preference based on the workday calendar.
Manufacturing
There are also attractive new features for JDE manufacturing users. On one side, you can now automatically attach service or equipment when the work orders are created through ETO. On the other, even more interesting, you have the possibility to leverage AI/ML technology to identify patterns and correlation between JDE data.
This will allow you to predict, yield and trace products and processes for better decision-making.
Inventory
The new inventory enhancements contained under Release 24 impact efficient planning, allowing automated safety stock population that now considers market fluctuations.
In the new release, the JD Edwards system dynamically calculates safety stock values based on stored data. This is thanks to the inclusion of three basic formulas: buyer’s guide, specified days of demand, and specified percentage of lead time demand. These enhancements drive optimal inventory levels, reducing stock-outs and excess inventory.
Additionally, in the new release, you can now control inventory holds at the location level, making it easier to manage incoming and outgoing inventory. By assigning a hold code to a location, it takes precedence over the lot hold code. This means that when you need to place a set of items on hold within a location, you no longer have to do so individually for each lot. It’s an update we’ve all been eagerly waiting for.
Blend management users will be pleased to know that audit reports will become easier to access, available just in time upon the auditor’s demand. These reports allow you to track and trace your product throughout the entire process.
Financial
Under the new enhancements included for finance users, you will be thrilled to know about these new features:
1. You can now view details of the voucher linked to the purchase order from the account ledger application.
2. Defining the default document type for journal entries is now possible easily.
3. Under the business unit and job master application, you are now able to view the joint venture parent BU.
4. A new program has been released for asset and maintenance costs revision. The calculation can now be even more accurate, enriching cost revision.
The new release also includes several updates on localizations:
- For France, there is a new VAT report for Goods and services.
- For Peru, the new release contains a new VAT Purchasing Tax file compliance with SUNAT.
- For Argentina, there is now the option to include or exclude ICMS in PIS/COFINS.
