Thank You, Lyle! The JD Edwards Man

Today Lyle Ekdahl officially informed us he will be retiring from Oracle per October 8th. This triggered us to look back and reflect on all the wonderful moments we have shared over the last 15 years or so. Lyle was instrumental for the success of Oracle JD Edwards. He led the team in his own way and style and made sure there was always a fun element in everything he did. Together with John Schiff they were like brothers joint at the hip, proudly leading the JD Edwards community within the Oracle enterprise. Lyle was the personification of JD Edwards. At the JD Edwards community events, his great keynotes were always a remarkable mixture of vision and fun and he always attracted a vast number of attendees. Even though he was an SVP within Oracle, he was easily accessible and customers could reach out to him directly. We were always honoured if he attended our events or even one of our customer dinners. The last one was around Oracle OpenWorld in London 2019, just before the pandemic hit. Over the years we have had the pleasure of sharing many wonderful moments together. Whether it was at the Denver partner Summit, Oracle Open World, one of the UKOUG or OBUG events or one of the many customer sessions and dinners we had over the years, our customers deeply appreciated the conversations they had with Lyle. It made them feel appreciated and valued as a JD Edwards customer.

His announcement confirms his succession was prepared thoroughly. Gary has the tough task of stepping into his shoes, but with support of Paul, Angela and Manish we are sure he will succeed! We look forward to continuing to work with the JD Edwards team under Gary’s inspirational leadership and we will support him and his team to keep the success of the JD Edwards community going.

On behalf of all Quistorians we would like to thank Lyle for everything he has done for the JD Edwards community, its customers, and its partners. We hope he can enjoy the times ahead with his family and friends. Lyle, we wish you all the best and we hope we can say goodbye in person when the situation allows. For now, good luck on this new adventure, and once again, it has been a pleasure working with you.
